Kidnappers demand for N98million from Bayelsa state Commissioner for Tourism.

The kidnappers of Pa Uroh Tempurah, father of Bayelsa State Commissioner for Tourism and Development,  Mr. Nelson Belief, have demanded for N98 million ransom to set him free.

The heavily armed kidnappers were said to have stormed the coastal settlement in a speedboat at 2.56am and made away with their victim.

It was, however, learnt that the gunmen, who seized the aged man, described “as a man of peace” by his community folks, Monday night contacted his son, Belief, demanding N98 million before he would be set free.

According to the commissioner, “Yes, I spoke with my father yesterday (Monday).”

He confirmed the N98 million ransom demand by the kidnappers. As the kidnappers allowed him to hear his father’s voice before making their outrageous demand. 

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Alex Akhigbe, who confirmed that the kidnappers had established contact with their victim’s family, said the police were on the trail of the kidnappers.

“We have deployed a crack team of operatives from the anti-kidnapping squad to strategic locations in the creek and they are on the trail of the kidnappers. They will be fished out and brought to book,” he said.

Today, November 26, Lawyer, Festus Keyamo sent out a press release lamenting that his client, ex-militant, Asari Dokubo was arrested in Benin Republic. See press release below...

Today, Tuesday, November 26, 2013, my friend and client, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, was arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic, around the hours of 1:00pm and 2:00pm by the country’s gendarmes (Police Force).

He was picked up around the Lubeleyi roundabout and taken to an unknown destination. We want to emphasise that Alhaji Dokubo-Asari carries on legitimate business and has been living partly in Benin Republic for many years now. In fact, he owns houses, schools and an academy in that country. All these places have been searched as at this evening and nothing incriminating was found.

We think his arrest and detention is a ploy by certain forces in Nigeria in unholy alliance with the Beninoise government to keep him away as 2015 approaches.

We call on the Nigerian government to immediately intervene and ensure that no harm befalls Alhaji Dokubo-Asari and to use all diplomatic means to secure his immediate release and safe return to Nigeria.

Meanwhile, we shall be liaising immediately with our colleagues in that country to enforce his fundamental rights.

Kelechi Iheanachor to sign for Manchester City.

According to the Mr. Iheanachor ( the player’s  father) Kelechi Iheanacho will sign a deal with Manchester City.

Benue Varsity students to die by hanging for armed robbery.

A Makurdi High Court on Tuesday sentenced, a 100-level sociology student of Benue State University, Jacob Atongo, to death by hanging for armed robbery.

Atongo conspired with two others and robbed Stephen Akuma, and several others at gun point on June 26, 2012. The convict and his accomplices robbed Akuma of his Toyota Camry car with registration number Benue AID 39 AA and other victims of valuables, including various sums of money.

He also attacked Judges’ Quarters, Makurdi on July 3, 2012 and robbed no fewer than 15 people, dispossessing them of various items and money at gun point.

Justice Adam Onum sentenced the accused to death by hanging, insisting that the sentence prescribed under the law for the offense must be followed.The offenses contravened the Robbery and Firearms Laws.

During the proceedings, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and testified for himself along with one witness called by his counsel.

Prosecution called seven witnesses and tendered several exhibits, which included two statements made by the convict to the police.

In statements, according to the prosecution, the convict confessed to the commission of the offences.

But counsel to the accused, Mr E.Z. Agbakor, argued that the prosecution failed to prove the case against his client beyond all reasonable doubt.

Agbakor told the court that the accused did not make the statement tendered in court voluntarily, insisting his client was tortured and forced to confess to the offences.

He submitted further that several “material inconsistencies and contradictions existed which cast reasonable doubt on the case of the prosecution’’.

The counsel pointed out that there was no identification parade conducted on the accused, and urged the court to discharge and acquit his client.

On her part, Prosecuting Counsel, Mrs Moji Sule, submitted that prosecution had established every charge against the accused based on the strength of his statements.

Sule argued that there was no need for identification parade where the accused had identified himself with the commission of the crimes. (NAN)

Barely one week after Peter Okoye got married to his sweet heart, Lola Omotayo, he and his brother travelled to Tanzania for a concert during which he and his brother Paul put up a very impressive perfomance (as usual) along side their very creative dance moves.

However, during the same concert, Peter was pulled up a female fan up stage and gave her his wrist watch (which is also normal) but what wasn't just normal, was that he was caught giving her a very passionate kiss and hug. Hmmmm... Pls see pictures when you continue...

Jude Okoye to dump his brothers, Psquare?

It seems like purported rift between Peter Okoye, one-half of P-Square and his elder brother, Jude Okoye is deeper than we had thought. Up till today, Jude has not congratulated his brother for his wedding.

A week after Peter’s wedding to Lola Omotayo, the P-Square pop singer, in company of his twin brother Paul, traveled to Tanzania for a concert. The twins arrived Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, last Friday, to entertain fans at the Leaders Club, Kinondoni. Surprisingly, Jude, who is/was their manager before Peter married Lola, shunned the trip.

 A source close to the family said “It is unusual for Jude to be absent in any of his brothers’ engagement”

Tonto Dikeh's expresses dissapointements in tweets to Linda Ikeji.

Yesterday, November 25 a popular blogger in Nigeria wrote a post about Tonto Dikeh which seemed to be false. I guess she didn't get her facts verified before posting as the tweet she blogged about was a a false tweet from a fake Tonto Dikeh twitter account. The blogger perhaps after getting her facts straight, deleted the post, but oh well, it was just too late as other "copy and paste" bloggers had already circulated the fake news.
