The world just lost a HERO! Nelson Mandela dies at 95!

South African icon and former President Nelson Mandela is dead. He died Thursday night peacefully at his home.
Speaking on his death, president Zuma said: “This is the moment out deepest sorrow. Our nation has lost its greatest so”
Nelson Mandela, born on July 18, 1918 in Mvezo, was a South African politician. He died on December 5, 2013 at the age of 95.
Tributes have started pouring in from across the world.

Madiba, as he was affectionately called, was elected the country’s first black president in 1994, after decades of white minority rule.
The 95-year-old Mandela was hospitalized last week due to a recurring lung infection.
Mandela is revered as the father of modern South Africa. He came of age during the era of apartheid, or institutionalized racial segregation. After years of underground activism on behalf of the African National Congress, which was outlawed until 1990, Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years.
Mandela was elected president in 1994, marking the de facto end of apartheid. During his five-year tenure, he made it his mission to promote equality and progress for all South Africans, emphasizing his belief that white and black citizens had to work together to heal old wounds.
The ANC has dominated the national government since 1994, and economic growth has made South Africa the largest economy on the continent. But the country still suffers from deep divisions and a yawning wealth gap; Zuma and other ANC leaders have been accused of fostering endemic corruption.
Mandela had been largely absent from this drama. Having contracted tuberculosis during his years in prison, Mandela suffered frequent lung infections. He had been absent from public appearance since 2010. Despite all of this, Mandela’s reputation remained untarnished.

Abuja airport closed after Saudi Arabian plane veers off runway.

The Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, has been closed since Wednesday night after Saudi Arabian cargo B747 aircraft veered off the runway, the aviation ministry said on Thursday.
The plane ran off the runway, but no one was hurt, ministry spokesman Joe Obi said.

According to him: “A Saudi Arabian B747 cargo aircraft landed safely in Abuja this night (yesterday night) but finished the maneuvering area of the runway and ran into a maintenance area of the runway and stopped.”
“No casualty and plans are on to move the air craft after the AIB’s visit soon.”

Details and photos of the Conoil, Abuja fire out-break.

Fire outbreak which I reported earlier at Conoil Petrol Station opposite NNPC Towers Abuja was stimulated from a discharging tanker at the Central Business District of FCT.


A Petroleum tanker containing 45,000 literes of fuel exploded at the filling station this afternoon causing the massive fire.

The incident, which started at about 2:50pm recorded no casualties.
Fire Service and Police were at the scene to control the fire and divert traffic, although it was reported that the intervention of the fire service was not timely enough.

The NNPC office was under lockdown due to the fire outbreak at the filling station opposite the towers. Heavy smoke could be seen from a far.

Report says no one was trapped in surrounding buildings.
The station workers said no life was lost but people sustained minor injuries as a result of the stampede caused while trying to scamper for safety.

Fire out break in Abuja.

There was a fire out break at the Conoil Gas station, Central Area district, opposite the NNPC tower Abuja today.

The cause of the inferno hasn't been discovered, but as soon as I get the hints and more pictures, I'll keep you all posted. Nigerian Senate in quest for 7years improsonment for social media critics.

According to Daily Trust, the Nigerian Senate is about to pass a law that social media critics would face 7years imprisonment or pay a fine of 5million Naira. See the complete report below... 

The Senate has reached an advanced stage to pass a bill that seeks seven years jail term for social media critics found guilty of inciting the public against the government. 

The proposed legislation which has scaled second reading in the upper legislative chamber is also proposing a stiffer punishment for internet fraudsters and scammers in Nigeria as those convicted will face a seven years imprisonment. 

“Anyone who intentionally propagates false information that could threaten the security of the country or that is capable of inciting the general public against the government through electronic message shall be guilty of an offense and upon conviction shall be sentenced to seven years imprisonment or N5 million (fine).” Section 13 subsection 3 of the bill proposes.
The joint Senate Committees on Judiciary, Human Rights and legal matters, Drugs, Narcotics and Financial Crimes led by Senator Umaru Dahiru (PDP, Sokoto), yesterday organised a one day public hearing on the bill for an act to provide for the prohibition and punishment for electronic fraud and crime in all electronic transactions in Nigeria.

22 year old boy commits suicide after being dumped by suger mommy.

A 22 year old boy, Michael Jaja a resident of Tema has abruptly ended his ‘sweet life’ after his 48-year old sugar mummy decided to call it quits.

The young boy, who has been the old lady’s ‘pet boy’ has enjoyed the luxury of receiving a Toyota Corolla as a gift and a fully paid trip to Dubai and China. He also lived in his sugar mummy’s husband’s house.All seemed well between the Boy and The Woman until the woman broke the news of the return of her husband from abroad prompting them to end the relationship.



 This obviously didn’t go well with Michael who threatened the woman to kill himself if that happened and true to his words Jaja went ahead to kill himself. Sources told GhanaVibes.com the couple first fought over  acid with droplets sprinkling on the woman’s face.

According to Jaja,he couldn't see himself going back to his old and poor lifestyle after all the luxury he had seen.

Manchester City's Yaya Toure bags BBC's African Footballer Of The Year.

Manchester City and Cote d’Ivoire midfielder, Yaya Toure, has been named the 2013 BBC African Footballer of the Year. The 30-year-old football player, who has been nominated for the past 4 years, beat Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, John Mikel Obi, Victor Moses and Jonathan Pitroipa to the award. Tiwa Savage's Husband Attacks Photo Journalist; Smashes His Camera!

Tiwa Savage‘s husband, Tunji ‘T-Billz’ Balogun is again in the news, but this time it’s not about the couple’s highly celebrated wedding, but about T-Billz having attacked a photo-journalist.

For allegedly taking pictures against his will, the 323 Entertainment boss snatched the camera in front of several witnesses and crashed it in on the floor. Reportedly the lens and other accessories in the camera were damaged.

The incident, which happened last Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Façade Thai Restaurant, Bishop Aboyade Cole, Victoria Island, Lagos raised a few eyebrows as the photographer and some guests challenged and condemned T-Bill’s actions, while querying the photographer for shooting without permission.

According to the eyewitnesses, T-billz who was at the venue the birthday of musician Sound Sultan “angrily attacked the photo-journalist, snatching his camera and breaking it for taking pictures of him”.

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Anambra State, Mr. Ken Emeakayi, was kidnapped on Monday by unknown gunmen.

Emeakayi was said to be returning to Awka from his village in Okija when his car was intercepted at Anyafulujiji Junction, Nri by his assailants.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Mr. Usman Gwary, told our correspondent on telephone that he had not been briefed about the incident.

But a source close to the PDP chairman said the story was true. He said contact had not been made yet with the family by the kidnappers.

Cybercriminals create advanced computer virus which can steal money from any bank account in any country.

 

 

A team of Russian cybercriminals have created a computer virus so sophisticated it can steal the money from any bank account in any country.Called the Neverquest Trojan, it lies hidden on malicious websites or infected computers and can steal the usernames and passwords for people’s online banking accounts.

Once it has access to these accounts it can empty them completely and is so advanced, security experts are warning that traditional antivirus software isn't enough to keep users protected.This is because the Trojan has been designed to contain ‘just about every possible trick’ known to hackers to avoid being caught and disabled

 

According to security firm Kaspersky Lab, Neverquest has already made ‘several thousand attempts’ to infect computers and is targeting some of the world’s biggest banks and investment companies.

A total of 28 major websites are under threat and Fidelity Investments is the main target

Once a computer is infected, Neverquest can record the usernames and passwords to online bank accounts and this information is then sent to anonymous hackers who can then use these to details to gain access to the accounts

After gaining access to a user’s account, cybercriminals make transactions and transfer money from the user to their own accounts or - to keep the trail from leading directly to them - to the accounts of other victims.

Kaspersky Lab also said that protection against threats such as Neverquest requires more than ‘just standard antivirus’ and advises customers to be extra vigilant to make sure they only access official sites and don’t store passwords in cookies, or on their computers. Browsers should be kept up to date, too.
