A 42-year-old housewife named Awulika Igbenoba in Ekuku Agbor Delta State is now paying the price for getting involved with witchcraft. She had allegedly offered her husband for witchcraft initiation so they'd get rich and now she is facing the wrath of the community’s gods. According to report, after the woman's husband was sacked from a private company where he was working, the family had been been trying to make ends meet. Anwulika, the mother of four was said to have sought assistance from members of a meeting she belonged to and that's how she was introduced to native doctor in Kwale community in the state. She was allegedly given a charm by the native doctor which she used in preparing a meal and after she and her husband ate it, they suddenly found themselves in the witchcraft coven. Leadership reports that two months after the alleged initiation, two of her children died mysteriously in their sleep. After which she was hit with a strange ailment which has left both of her legs completely paralysed. While confessing to her evil act, on the evening of Tuesday, June 10 in the community she said, “I was introduced by the president of our meeting to a man in Kwale community who prepared a charm for me to put in the meal that was later served for my husband, after taking the meal I found myself and my husband in their meeting far away on top of the trees where it was decided that before I am given what I am looking for I should offer my two children for a sacrifice”. However, an elder statesman in the community said the community is happy that the woman's charm backfired, returning the evil to her family. It would be recalled that last month an old woman escaped being lynched in Ajegunle area of Lagos state after she allegedly transformed from a bird to a woman and confessed to being a witch.

The governor says he has “credible information” that the president is behind the crisis in Kano State.
Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, on Wednesday accused President Goodluck Jonathan of plotting to eliminate him, in a fresh twist to a longstanding row between the two leaders.

 In an exclusive interview with PREMIUM TIMES Wednesday, Mr. Kwankwaso said the president was after his life and had ordered the withdrawal of half of his security details in a ploy to open him up to physical attacks. “I have told my friends, and people of Kano, Nigerians and indeed the international community to hold Jonathan responsible for whatever happens to Kwankwaso, his family or even the people of Kano state,” Mr. Kwankwaso said at Kano State governor’s lodge in Abuja.

Breaking News:- Local Hunters RESCUE Over 80 Female Students Abducted In Borno By Boko Haram

According to report, the girls who were kidnapped during a raid by the insurgents on Monday night, April 14, 2014, were rescued on Tuesday and Wednesday morning by a group of vigilante, local hunters and soldiers.

As fate would have it, after kidnapping the girls and putting them in tipper lorries, they got stuck in the bush while they were trying to crossover some muddy area between Chibok and Askira/Uba.

Some of the girls were said to have jumped out of the lorry and ran for their lives.

Speaking on the incident, one of the rescued girl’s father, Malam Ali Iliya said, his daughter told him that when they got stuck, the insurgents allowed those who jumped out escape and they did not shoot at them, adding that those who could not run either as a result of fear or wound are still with them in the bush.

The girls who escaped were found scattered in the bush by vigilante and local hunters.

Malm Ali said:-

“Some of them were wounded, some were with fracture, which I believe was as a result of jumping from the high vehicle, but we are happy that our children have been rescued.

“Now we are praying for those who are still with the Boko Haram; our prayer is that every father will have his child back.”

According to his daughter, the abductors were over a hundred in number and the abducted girls were 243 as they were asked to count themselves.

He added that his daughter Hajara was sound and healthy but weak.

Meanwhile, the governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima today promised to give N50 million to any individual or group that would volunteer credible information on the whereabouts of the abducted girls.

The Boko Haram insurgents have been wrecking havoc across the country. Sometime in February, the insurgents had attacked a Federal Government College, Buni Yadi, Yobe State, killing many students.

FG Declares Friday 18th And Monday 21st April Public Holidays For Easter

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Friday 18th and Monday 21st of April, 2014 as Public Holidays to mark “Good Friday” and Easter celebrations.

The Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Fatima Bamidele on Wednesday, 16 April.

He enjoined all Christian faithfuls and Nigerians in general to use the occasion to pray for peace and unity in the country.

The statement further urged Nigerians to continue supporting and co-operating with President Goodluck Jonathan in his efforts to build a peaceful, united and virile nation.
