There were reports earlier today that a boat on its way from Okera Nla, Ikorodu to Bayeku, capsized at about 7.30pm on Saturday evening leaving no fewer than four persons dead out of twenty two passengers.
While officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority were able to rescue 17 passengers alive, four had already died, and only their bodies were recovered. Similarly rescue operations are still ongoing in the area because one passenger is still missing. The General Manager, LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, who confirmed the incident said, “Four bodies were recovered from the boat capsize, while 17 passengers were rescued alive. However, one passenger is still missing. Rescue operations are still ongoing.”
