40-yr-old man arrested for manufacturing fake beer

THE Imo State police command, over the weekend, paraded a 40-year-old man, Mr Bright Okodua for allegedly manufacturing fake beer.
According to the state commissioner of police, AbdulMajid Ali who briefed journalists at the police headquarters, Okodua who was caught in the act was arrested at Mgbidi, Oru West local government of the state. The suspect who pleaded for pardon while speaking to newsmen confessed that he resorted to the business as a means of survival after searching endlessly for job in the labour market.

The suspect who claimed to have been in the business for three years alleged that he bought crown corks and empty Stout bottles from staff of Guinness Nig plc and filled them with the content of Legend extra stout. The suspect revealed that he had been caught on several occasions by the police but freed after paying N50 000. Okodua claimed that he was arrested this time round because he had no money to bribe his way out. “I bought the big stout empty bottles for N500 and poured Legend beer inside them, after washing the bottle thoroughly. I had been arrested several times and I was let go after paying N500. I am here because I didn’t have money to pay again” he added.
