A 16-year old lost his life because he missed the 'Legend Blue' 11 release at the Township Mall in Dayton, Ohio and decided to shake someone down for their pair instead.
Unfortunately, the man he ran up on was carrying a gun as well, and he delivered one fatal shot to the teen.
Sgt. Jay Phares said that one of the men Jabbar tried to rob also had a handgun, which he pulled out and fired one time. Jabbar was struck by the bullet and was pronounced dead a short time later.
The man who shot Jabbar has a concealed carry permit, Phares said. He said the CCW holder may have violated mall policy if he had the gun in the mall, but that determination wasn’t part of the police department’s investigation.
The much anticipated 'Legend Blue' Air Jordan 11 finally launched this past weekend via all major retailers and those who made purchases in-store, rather than online, were surely looking over their shoulders.
When he failed to get in line in time to get a pair of shoes, police said, Jabbar decided to rob someone who had the shoes. He approached two men just outside the mall and produced a gun, police said.
Sooner or later all of these Jordan releases are going to be held exclusively online because people lose their minds every time a retro arrives at retailers. It's a shame really, but it's the world we live in today.
