It was a huge deal last night Sunday, July 13, 2014 as the whole world tuned into the finale of the biggest event in the last two months  the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Kicking off with an closing ceremony which saw the likes of Shakira, Wyclef Jean and Carlos Santana perform, the final match game saw Germany lift the World Cup trophy ahead of Argentina, after a closely contested 120 minutes rigorous match-up. A few celebs were also present at the Maracana Stadium – they included Pop star Rihanna, Rock star Mick Jagger, soccer greats Pele, Kaka and David Beckham and many more.........

Mother gets 15 years for killing baby

A Durban mother who strangled her newborn daughter and forced a facecloth down her throat has been sentenced to 15 years in jail,
 Krishnandi Govindsamy (30) was found guilty this week by Magistrate Fariedha Mohamed in the Durban Magistrate's Court.
 Govindsamy, a cashier at a butchery, strangled her baby daughter with a T-shirt on the night she gave birth to her in the bathroom of her Mayville home.
 She put the body in a plastic bag, put the bag in the bedroom cupboard, and went to sleep.
 According to the plea documents Govindsamy said the baby, which she had named Tamia van Wyk, died shortly after being born on June 24, 2010.
 In mitigation of sentence, defence attorney Anesh Maharaj submitted his client, a mother of three, was a first offender.
 He said the court should consider Govindsamy had no emotional support during her pregnancy because her husband, Nathan van Wyk, was involved in drugs.
 Mohamed said Govindsamy's actions were premeditated because she could have made prior arrangements to have someone care for the baby.
"You used a cloth and a T-shirt to strangle the baby, which means that you thought about what you were doing," Mohamed said.

Chris Brown and Drake have reportedly put their feud behind them to record a song.

Meek Mill Sentenced To 3 To 6 Months in Jail

Meek Mill will reportedly spend three to six months behind bars after violating his probation.

According to a report from Philadelphia's Fox 29, the Philly rapper (real name: Robert Williams) is currently in custody, after prosecutors were concerned about "a number of recent incidents" with the MC. Mill is on probation for a 2008 gun and drug conviction, for which he served eight months in jail and began five years of probation in the fall of 2009.
